Plant Investment Fees, also commonly known as Tap Fees, are a one-time charge payable at building permit approval. They are used to recover the pro-rata share of the capital costs associated with facilities for raw water supply (reservoirs, etc), water filtration plants, pumping stations, transmission mains, storage tanks, sewer trunk lines, and the wastewater treatment plant. Plant Investment Fees are based upon the square footage of a structure and the number and type of plumbing fixtures within the structure.
